Hi,
I have a four-year-old Dell laptop that's running Windows 7, JAWS 15, and IE 11. For about a week or so, I've been hearing a sort of chime, but no dialogue box appears to tell me what the matter is. For anyone with perfect pitch, the first note I can clearly discern is a G, and the last is a B. I went through the system sounds in the control panel and couldn't find a match. Anyone know what this could be?
Thanks,
Becky
Well, we need to know several things first probably.
1. When do you tend to hear this sound?
2. Have you tried to reboot to see if that solved the problem? (have to ask because some people don't think of that one).
Going off of only what you told us so far, if I had to guess, I would say that you're probably somehow trying to turn on the sticky keys feature. Are you pressing any certain keys repeatedly? More specifically, more than five times, in a row, I believe? If so, you might have to go into the control panel, and disable sticky keys.
Email client open? Maybe you have Windows mail?
Lots of things could be happening.
Of course, right after I post this, I hear the chime, this time with an accompanying message read by JAWS. It's something to do with notifications from my Microsoft Office account.
Thanks anyway! lol
